Comparing volume of liquid

How to compare the volume of liquid in two container?

1. Pour the liquid in Container A into a graduated cylinder to know the volume of the liquid.

Result : Container A contain 325 ml of liquid.

2. Pour the liquid in Container B into a graduated cylinder to know the volume of the liquid.

Result : Container B contain 400 ml of liquid.

Answer : The volume of liquid in Container B is more than the volume of liquid in Container A.

Measure using standard unit

Normally we use standard unit to measure volume of liquid. Standard unit for volume of liquid are milliliter (ml) and liter (l). Here are some apparatus in standard unit.

Non-standard unit

Hello, children ! Let's learn volume of liquid from this blog. Learning from computer is easy and fun.

Do you know how much water you drink everyday? How to measure the water? It's simple. We can measure water (volume of liquid) or any liquid such as cooking oil, petrol and many more using non-standard unit or standard unit.

What is "non-standard" unit ?
Here are some pictures to measure volume of liquid using non-standard unit.

~Liquid~

Milk is a liquid. Milk is liquid matter. It has a size or volume. Volume means it takes up space. But milk doesn't have a definite shape. It takes the shape of its container.

Liquids can flow, be poured, and spilled. Did you ever spill juice? Did you notice how the liquid goes everywhere and you have to hurry and wipe it up? The liquid is taking the shape of the floor and the floor is expansive limitless boundary (until it hits the wall). You can't spill a wooden block. You can drop it and it still has the same shape.

This is a ml cylinder

What is the volume of the liquid????

the answer is at the bottom right of the site....

measuring cylinder

how to use the cylinder

Note: To obtain an accurate measurement of a liquid, always read the volume at the bottom of the meniscus.

1. Lower your eye to the level of the liquid. Read the volume at the bottom of the meniscus.

2. If it is a light-colored or clear liquid in the graduate cylinder, hold a piece of black paper behind the cylinder. Use white paper if the liquid is dark.
